Outrider Dogs Rescue is a foster based rescue. We do not have a facility so we are only able to rescue as many animals as we have fosters. Our desire is to rescue all ages, genders, temperaments and breeds, so the more open minded you are, the more we can help. You are the backbone of our rescue and the most important part. We believe there is no better feeling than giving an animal a second chance in life. We will provide food and a crate or litter box if needed as well as cover all veterinary costs while in your care.

Foster Application

What we request of you as a puppy/dog/kitten/cat foster:

  • Typically a two to three week care commitment for puppies, four weeks or more for adult dogs and two to three weeks for kittens/cats.

  • Pick up your foster from our facility.

  • Bathe them when you get home and when necessary during their stay with you. For kittens/cats only if necessary.

  • A trip (or two) to the vet.

  • Notify us with any signs of illness immediately.

  • Administer medications if necessary as prescribed by our vet.

  • Start crate, potty and basic obedience training with puppies as well as socialization with dogs, humans and their environment. For adult dogs, work on crate, obedience and leash training in addition to socialization and any specific behavioral issues that arise. For kittens/cats begin litter box training.

  • Provide toys and chews for your foster puppy.

  • Take pictures and videos for their Petfinder profile page.

  •  Drop off at facility for their adoption meeting.

In order to gather as much information as possible on your fosters temperament we will give them some time with you before listing them on Petfinder. This helps ensure we find the best fit for them in a forever home. The rescue will be in contact with you throughout your time caring for your foster and are here to answer questions and advise along the way. Thank you for choosing to foster through Outrider Dogs Rescue and we can’t wait to have you on the team!
